May Scrap Mix Challenge!

Hey everyone! QT bre here with this weeks challenge! This challenge is inspired by a challenge over at Cat Scrap. It's called Scrap Mix and is a lot of fun with this one. I hope you all will have fun too. It may seem tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple. We've played it before, but I've changed things up a bit. Here's how it works!

Instructions
There are 4 categories: Element, Main Color, Main Paper, and Inspiration (based on someone you know!)

To figure out what your main elemet should be, take the day you were born, add up the digits until you have a single digit. For example, if I was born on the 29th day, I would do this: 2+9=11, then 1+1=2. My main elements are buttons. I was actually born on the 2nd day, so I should use buttons somewhere on my LO.

To determine the main color, take the number of the month you were born. I was born in the 7th month, so my main color is purple! If you were born in the 10, 11, or 12 month, you add the digits until you get a single digit (ex. the 11th month would be 1+1=2, so black is your main color.)

To find out the main paper you should use, you add the digits of the year you were born. Example: 1986, 1+9+8+6=24, 2+4=6, my main paper should be plaid.

Category 4 is your age and will determine what you should use as your inspiration. We all have many different people in our lives, so you should use that as inspiration. If the number you should use does not WORK for you, go ahead and pick on that does. To determine which person is your inspiration, take your age, add it until you get a single digit, and have fun. I am 22, so 2+2=4. My LO should be about one of my parents.

Here are the categories! (My computer had a meltdown, so I am without photoshop! :( I won't bore you with the details, lol, but hopefully this will work the same!)

Day of Birth: (Main Element)
1 - Frame
2 - Button
3 - Ribbon
4 - Stitching
5 - Flower
6 - Date Element
7 - Photo mask
8 - Glitter
9 - Swirls

Month of Birth: (Main Color)
1 - Yellow
2 - Black
3 - Blue
4 - Pink
5 - Green
6 - Grey
7 - Purple
8 - Orange
9 - YOUR CHOICE!

Year of Birth: (Main Paper)
1 - Dark
2 - Light
3 - YOUR CHOICE!
4 - Dots
5 - Stripes
6 - Plaid
7 - Any Pattern
8 - Any Solid
9 - Grunge

Your Age: (Inspiration - person)
1 - A Good Friend
2 - A Sibling
3 - A Hero
4 - A Parent
5 - A Grandparent
6 - A Child (yours, or someone else's)
7 - Any relative
8 - YOUR CHOICE!
9 - Your significant other

Since I am without photoshop (and I forgot until Sunday that it was my turn to do the challenge...shh...don't tell Suzy!) I don't have a LO. But hopefully one of the other CT members will put together a LO for you to see!

**ETA**As Joy said, 'Your wish is my command.' What a sweetheart. She totally got this done and way fast...Thanks dear!! Here is her LO using the birthday 9/23/1974. Here main Element (using the 23rd day, 2+3=5) is a FLOWER. Main color (using the 9th month) is one of HER CHOICE. Main paper (using the year 1974, 1+9+7+4=21, 2+1=3) is one of HER CHOICE! (lucky gal, right? lol). And her inspiration (from the age 34, 3+4=7) ANY RELATIVE! Wow, those numbers really worked for her! :) Here is her fab LO. Thanks JOY! Have fun everyone!

Post the link to your LO as a comment so we can see your creations. Any questions, PLEASE ASK! Thanks for stopping by! :) Winner will receive a $5 GC to SuzyQs store!! Get those LOs done! Have fun and be creative with this challenge!

Scrap Mix Challenge!

There are 4 categories: Main Paper, # of Photos, Element, and Inspiration From a Song.

To figure out what your main paper should look like, take the day you were born, add up the digits until you have a single digit. For example, if I was born on the 29th day, I would do this: 2+9=11, then 1+1=2. My paper should be striped. I was actually born on the 2nd day, so I should use a paper that is striped.

To determine how many pictures you need to use your page, take the number of the month you were born. I was born in the 7th month, so I need to use at least 7 pictures! If you were born in the 10, 11, or 12 month, you add the digits until you get a single digit (ex. the 11th month would be 1+1=2, so you would use 2 pictures.)

To find out the main element you should use, you add the digits of the year you were born. Example: 1986, 1+9+8+6=24, 2+4=6, my main element is a frame.

Category 4 is your age and will determine what you should use as your inspiration. I wanted something different so I typed "Top 10 Children's Songs." You're going to really have to stretch your creativity as some of the songs are a little different! If you absolutely CAN NOT fit the song/lyrics into your LO. I will let it slide....JUST THIS ONCE though... :) Anyway, again take your age, add it until you get a single digit, and have fun. I am  22, so 2+2=4. My song is "If I Didn't Have You." (I will post links the to songs/lyrics below...)

Here are the categories! (If you can't see it, try clicking on it. If you STILL can't see it, let me know!)

Here is my LO. I used the striped paper, I used SEVEN photos (that was a STRETCH for me! lol) and I made FRAMES to go around the seven pictures. I also used the words "if I didn't have them (changed from you)" from my song.

Here are the songs for you if you need them. You don't have to use the whole song, just a part or parts that stick out to you!

Post the link to your LO as a comment so we can see your creations. Any questions, PLEASE ASK! Thanks for stopping by! :) Winner will receive a $5 GC to SuzyQs store!! It's Monday & it's challenge Time!

Hi, everyone--just snagging Joy's post for a sec to post about this freebie:

This is my entry for week 2 of Capture the Flag over at Funky Playground Designs. ***DOWNLOAD EXPIRED*** Wish me luck!

Back to Joy, with this week's challenge!

Howdy SuzyQ fans! QT Joy here to bring you my first ever challenge. And we will call this challenge "Choose Older, Make-over!". Think my title is witty enough? LOL!

What do you have to do for this challenge? Choose one of your earlier LO's/pages, and do a make-over, as simple as that. But you have to follow these 2 rules:

1) Use the same picture/pictures. You cannot add, nor remove/delete. E.g. If your 'original' page has 3 pics, your make-over one should also have the same pics.

2) Use the same Title.

Other than these rules, you can do anything to 'beautify' your make-over page. Also, you have to provide a link/or include an image in your description, to the original layout/page, so we could see the difference.

And to make it more clear, here is my sample:

This is one of the first pages I did, while I was still grasping the idea of digital scrapbooking.. (And please, don't laugh, because it really is cringe-worthy!LOL!)

DaddyDearest_old

I don't even know how to add a drop-shadow on my own!! And that title image was something I got from a blinkie/glitter site! LOL!

And, here it is, after a major make-over..

ct_lo_SuzyQ_MadScientist01

It is a much better version, don't you think? I used SuzyQ's Mad Scientist kit for this page. This kit is one of my favorite SuzyQ creations, since the colors and elements are very versatile, and can be used for boy or girl pages..

Sooo, start choosing that older page, make-over that old layout, make it look more amazing! And link us up to your pages here in the comment section, and who knows, you might be one of our lucky winner of a $5 gift certificate to Suzy's store! And you don't have to use SuzyQ products to enter/join, but she has lots of lovely kits that you could choose from, and also freebies which you can find here on the blog, so why not? ;)

This challenge ends on April 19th, 9pm EST. Go now, choose & scrap!! :)

QT out!

Challenge Monday!

Hey everyone! QT bre here with this weeks challenge! This challenge is inspired by a challenge over at Cat Scrap. I am calling it the "Mad Scientist Challenge" (inspired by one of SuzyQ's newest kits, and because I couldn't come up with a better name!) I had a lot of fun with this one, and I hope you all will have fun too. It may seem tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's all good! :) Here's how it works!

Instructions
There are 4 categories: Element, Number of Times you use the element, Main color, and Inspiration.

To figure out the main element, take the day you were born, add up the digits until you have a single digit. For example, if I was born on the 29th day, I would do this: 2+9=11, then 1+1=2. My element would be a Frame. I was actually born on the 2nd day, so the element I used was a frame.

To determine how many times you need to use that element for your page, take the number of the month you were born. I was born in the 7th month, so I need to use a frame at least 7 times! (you can be creative. I used mine as elements around the main frame in the middle!). If you were born in the 10, 11, or 12 month, you add the digits until you get a single digit (ex. the 11th month would be 1+1=2, so you would use the element 2 times.)

To find out the main color, you add the digits of the year you were born. Example: 1986, 1+9+8+6=24, 2+4=6, my main color is black.

Category 4 is your age and will determine what you should use as your inspiration. I am 22, so 2+2=4. My inspiration is "Favorite pet/animal."

Here are the categories! (If you can't see it, try clicking on it. If you STILL can't see it, let me know!)
You can use other colors/elements, but you need to make sure that those elements are included. Here is my LO for this challenge, using my birthday 7/2/1986 and SuzyQ's Mad Scientist kit. Hope you have fun with this one, I know I did!!

Post the link to your LO as a comment so we can see your creations. Any questions, PLEASE ASK! Thanks for stopping by! :) Winner will receive a $5 GC to SuzyQs store!! Get those LOs done!

Back to Charmaine:

Hello again digiland, its Charmaine again! Did you have fun last week with the template challenge? I hope so! Well this week is going to be a QUOTE challenge, and since it is St Patricks day tomorrow, what better quote than one about good ol' St Paddy!?!
I have chosen 3 quotes that I think are so sweet, incorporate one of them into a layout to be entered into the challenge:

For each petal on the shamrock
This brings a wish your way -
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day.
~Author Unknown

May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.
~Irish Blessing

Never iron a four-leaf clover, because you don't want to press your luck. ~Author Unknown

You have until Sunday, March 22nd at midnight EST to complete this challenge. Link us up to your layout and a random winner will be chosen to win a $5 gift certificate to Suzy's store! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Extended sale, LO pics, a small CT call, and a CHALLENGE

Hi everyone! I decided to extend my sale through tomorrow (probably ending sometime around noon Eastern). So hurry on over to Enchanted Studio Scraps to pick up on some great deals! (Like my Crumple-bets alpha packs--they're less than $2!)

Okay, so I think I forgot to mention, in all the prep and excitement of opening my store, that I made my dream CT! Yep, that's right--I'm on AMANDA HEIMANN's CT!!! Holy cow, her designs are amazing and I feel EXTREMELY humbled that she chose me to be on her team. I totally  her stuff!

So let me show off some of the LO's I've done this week with her awesome stuff. :)

The next 2 LO's are with Come Out and Play (oh my gosh, this is such a fun kit...it's only available through Scrapper's Guide, but it's such a steal of a deal...you can read about it on Amanda's blog
here):

And these 2 LO's are with Smooches, a collab kit Amanda did with Ziggle Designs, which you can pick up at Scrap Orchard
here:

Last LO with Amanda's stuff. This was done using a TON of stuff from almost every Amanda kit I have (and I have quite a few, lol--I was a guest for her last August too). I entered it in the current Hodge Podge Art challenge:

All right, I think that updates me on Amanda's stuff...but there will be more to come, I can promise you that!

On to my little CT call. I'm only running it about a week, but I totally need a couple of dedicated scrappers to be on my team!

You can read more details about it
here.

Last thing. My first Mystical Mottos challenge is up at ESS. You can check it out
here. And here's my LO (using my kit Puddle Jumpers):

Whew! Long post. Thanks for sticking with me. I'm really excited about next week's new release (if I get finished in time, lol). Come back and visit soon!

Resolute

Day 4 of the new year. And I'm still on target for my goals. One of those goals is to do something physically active every day. I haven't made it any more specific than that right now, because some days just taking the trash out to the dumpster is pushing myself to the limit. So, right now, I'll just try to do one physical activity every day. And when that's a habit, I'll push myself a little bit more. Moderation in all things, right? :)

Project 365, day 3

Project 365, day 4 (so much for my animal theme, right? maybe all things ranch instead? not that I need a theme)

I scrapped today. YEA! I did 2 LOs, both for scraplift challenges at SSD. This was for the Spin-A-Lift challenge posted today:

Credits here

And this was for the Treat of the Month challenge:

Credits here

And I think (cross my fingers) I'm finished with LOs for 2006. YEA!
